Parent Information Packet/Frequently Asked Questions for Summer Camp

Who can attend?  

  • Any student who is will be in 7-outgoing 12 grades fall of 24-25  School Year

  • And is currently active in attending Small Group and or consistently attends Youth Group

How much does it cost?

    1. You will in addition need to fill out the campsites medical release form. 

Are there scholarships available?

  • Yes, but are on a limited and case by case basis.  We have done everything we can to make this as affordable as possible.   

What do I pack? 

  • There is a 2 bag limit.  

  • Bible

  • Notebook

  • Sunscreen

  • Water Bottle-NOT GLASS

  • Snacks

  • Money for any snacks students might want at camp

  • Sleeping bag or other bedding, don’t forget your pillow (twin beds)

  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc)

  • Towels

  • Swim attire (1 piece for girls if a bikini bring a non-white shirt to cover up)

    • Modest tankinis that top and bottom overlap are ok.  

  • Athletic clothing for recreation and free time

  • Tennis shoes

  • Laundry bag for messy clothes

  • Clothing to get dirty/messy in during recreation and free time

What DON’T I pack?

  • Cell Phone

  • Glass Water Bottle

  • Tobacco products/alcohol/drugs*

  • Weapons*

  • Fireworks *

  • Lighters/Matches*

  • Pranks

  • Water balloons/water guns

  • ANY gaming device

  • MP3 players are ok for rooms only.  

*Possession of these items will result in your student being sent home or picked up at your expense.  

Who is providing transportation?

  • Wrightway Transportation in Cobden, IL

What are the sleeping/housing arrangements?

  • Students will be rooming with students of their same grade and gender.  Students will be in a cabin with their small group leaders

  • This year, we will be having students room with students from the same church as well as much as we possibly can

  • If you have a roommate request, make sure to put it on your registration.  (Roommate requests will try to be honored.  This is the MOST difficult part of planning the camp. Please understand we will do our best) Roommates WILL be placed with people from the same grade.

When do I need to drop off my student?  When will they return?

  • Check in begins  Thurs Aug 1 @ 2pm Vine Church North Building

  • Pick up will be Sun, Aug 4 at  2:00-3:00pm –we will be sending text alerts when we are departing 

  • Text “join youthsummercamp” to 406-50

Can I sponsor a student to attend?

  • Absolutely!

  • You can write a check to Vine Church with Youth Camp in memo.

What kind of adult supervision is provided?

  • All of our leaders are trusted, interviewed, trained, and have been given background checks.  

  • Our ratio will be a maximum of 5 students per adult leader 


Will someone administer medicine for my student?

  • We ask that students monitor and administer their own medication

  • Please indicate that on registration forms and also at check-in

Will my student be able to take their cell phone?

  • No, we believe this camp has the potential to be life-changing.  We want to eliminate ANYTHING that might be a distraction to our students focusing on God and building relationships with others.  

  • Almost EVERY one of our students appreciated not having their cell phones with them at our previous camps.

How can I stay informed about what is going on?

  • We want to do EVERYTHING possible to let parents in on what’s happening at the retreat.  We will be posting daily videos on facebook and twitter

  • Text “join youthsummercamp” to 406-50 for texting alerts

  • We had tremendous response to the videos at previous camps

How can I reach someone in case of an emergency?

  • Call 618.996.5458

  • Please limit calls to emergency only and dates of camp

How do we check in on the 2nd?

  • Come to Vine Church’s North building and follow the signs

  • Please do not bring luggage into the building
