This class is for members of Vine Church. Over the course of five weeks, we will focus on Christian discipleship and growth, helping believers understand how to mature in their walk with Christ. The class emphasizes that growth begins with a biblical understanding of sanctification and how all of life is worship to God. Participants will explore foundational spiritual disciplines, including Bible intake, prayer, and fasting, learning how these practices cultivate holiness and fruit of the Spirit. Participants will learn practical ways to engage with Scripture through reading, memorizing, and meditating on God’s Word, and build consistent spiritual habits that help them grow in holiness and Christlike character.

This class provides a broad survey of the Old Testament, helping participants understand its message, structure, and significance within the story of the whole Bible. The first week will cover an overview of the books of the Old Testament – showing how the narrative unfolds and how God reveals His character through history. The subsequent four weeks will focus on Genesis and Exodus. Participants learn how the Old Testament reveals God’s holiness, faithfulness, patience, and covenant promises, while also exposing humanity’s sin and need for redemption. This class is designed for those who have made a profession of faith and are interested in joining our Church as a formal member. Over the course of four sessions, we walk through the bible’s story revealing God’s unfolding purpose to have a defined group of people he’s called to bear his image. We review the core christian beliefs contained in the Member’s Statement of Faith, which form the foundation of our elders’ teaching in the Elder Statement of Faith. We provide important information that explains what it means to belong to, and participate in, the life of the church here at Vine. We conclude by walking through our Member Covenant, which clearly defines the commitments we make as members of the church to one another. Overall, this series is intended to help prospective members understand what it means to belong to Christ, and therefore to one another as members in his Church.
